With up to $50 million in funding already set aside for the program, the province hopes that \u2013 by doing so \u2013 they\u2019ll be able to cut overall carbon emissions to the tune of 900,000 tons annually.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Quebec\u2019s petroleum use breakdown looks like this \u2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/c1.gas2.org\/files\/2011\/04\/canada3_1.jpg\" alt=Electric Cars\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u2026 and, since more than 90% of Quebec\u2019s electricity comes from hydro power, this isn\u2019t a case of simply diverting fossil fuel use from gasoline being burned in cars to Albertan tar sand oil being burned at the power station, either.
