{"id":4693,"date":"2012-06-27T01:00:31","date_gmt":"2012-06-27T01:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/findfreightloads.com\/blog\/?p=4693"},"modified":"2012-07-18T14:47:06","modified_gmt":"2012-07-18T14:47:06","slug":"fmcsa-adds-caveat-on-crash-responsibility-to-csa-websites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/findfreightloads.com\/blog\/fmcsa-adds-caveat-on-crash-responsibility-to-csa-websites\/","title":{"rendered":"FMCSA adds caveat on crash responsibility to CSA websites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As of Tuesday, June 26, reported FMCSA Senior <a href=\"http:\/\/freightbrokerscourse.com\/\">Transportation <\/a>Specialist Bryan Price, language was added to the public Compliance, Safety, Accountability Safety Measurement System website, the SAFER website and to results from the Pre-Employment Screening Program that underscores the lack of crash responsibility in crash data. \u201cWe\u2019ve added language to all our websites,\u201d he said, \u201cto more clearly articulate [the fact that] crash information doesn\u2019t include preventability information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the information section of the CSA main site, \u201ca caveat is placed wherever [<a href=\"http:\/\/truckerhunt.com\/\">Carrier <\/a>Safety Measurement System] Crash Indicator-related values are shown. The caveat states, \u2018A motor carrier\u2019s crash assessment (Crash Indicator BASIC measure and percentile) and the list of crashes below represent a motor carrier\u2019s involvement in 24 months of reportable crashes without any determination as to responsibility.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro, in a June 20 conference call organized by the owner-operator members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/dacoff.com\/\">Trucking <\/a>Solutions Group, noted that the agency was considering how to address crash responsibility in the Crash Indicator measurement. The industry could expect, she said, \u201csometime before the month is out,\u201d a schedule for planned research into how exactly to account for crash responsibility in the CSA system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am committed to carrying out a full analysis of what information we could use and what process we could use to better weight crashes,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Price was speaking as part of a series of webinars titled \u201cCSA: Proposed Changes to Improve a Solid Foundation,\u201d devoted to educating motor carriers.<\/p>\n<p><a
